HEC hosts the consortium of nine universities to be identified online courses

ISLAMABAD: Higher Education Development Program (HEDP) of the Commission for Higher Education (HEC) on on Saturday hosted a consortium of nine universities in University of Lahore of Management science to identify high quality asynchronous online I ran as part of the new basic curriculum of the degree program for Village.

PakistanEdX was selected as a formal name for this national platform, it reads in a press release.

HEC will do it use the same technology to increase access to quality education and succeed available for distant areas of Pakistan.

The consortium is formulated in base on the expertise of these universities in develop and supply quality online learning platforms. It includes the Allama Iqbal Open University, the University of Balochistan of Computer Science, Engineering and Management Sciences, COMSATS University, Habib University, Hazara University, Lahore University of Management Sciences, National University of Science and technology and virtual university of Pakistan.

The new curriculum adds 11 core courses drawn from five major categories of HEC university policy courses. These universities will contribute with the courses on PakistanEdX offering multilingual options in these five categories of art and humanity, social natural sciences, quantitative skills and exposure writing.

“HEC aims to create a holistic view of culture of quality for online and blended learning, ”said Maryam Riaz, coordinator of the HEDP project.

The rector of the NUST, Lieutenant General Javed Bukhari, said: “Here is an opportunity, in that we can learn from each other, and I am very confident that all stakeholders, including faculty, students, and accreditation bodies will join hands with us. “

COMSATS University rector Dr Tabassum Afzal, emphasizing the significance of using technology, said education globally is now about clicks and not bricks.
