LAHORE: Bashir Memon, former director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), said the agency was used for political victimization of the opponents of the government.
Speaking with the media outside a court in Lahore on On Tuesday, he said he was saddened to hear the remarks of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and a sessional court in cases involving the agency.
“The IHC, in his verdict said that the FIA ​​could not be allowed to behave well like the Indian spy agency RAW, “he said.
Memon said the FIA ​​has a systematic modality of operation. “It is not a political organization, but a department that works in the light of laws of the earth, “he said.
He said that when he was the head of the agency he did not even notify a notice on the base of the political affiliation of the recipient.
Previously, the session court extended the provisional bail granted to Memom until 15 March.
The court also ordered the agency to provide relevant documents to Memon.
Worth a mention here the FIA ​​had registered a case against Memo in connection with money laundering and other charges.
