ISLAMABAD: The Provincial Commissioner for Elections, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on On Sunday he asked the KP Chief Secretary to initiate the necessary disciplinary proceedings immediately against government officer Zia-ur-Rehman on participating in Local government elections campaign of Candidate Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI-F). in DIKhan.
According to ECP sources, a letter was written in in this regard under Section-24 of Government Employee Efficiency and Disciplinary Rules, 1964 against the concerned officer under notice of this office for its subsequent presentation to the Electoral Commission.
As for the details, Zia-ur-Rehman, brother of the boss of Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman addressed the organized political rally in Iqbal Marriage Hall, Zafarabad Colony, Tehsil and DIKhan District on 03 February as part of the lesson campaign of JUI, candidate, precisely Muhammad Kafel Nizami.
The letter said that being a public office holder (PMS Officer, Government Official), his participation in such political activities are pure violation of section 187 of the 2017 election act which is reproduced.
It said there was a notice already issued to the officer concerned by district monitor, DIKhan on the ground that a person in service of Pakistan is guilty of the violation of official duty in connection with an election if he abuses his own official position in a calculated way to influence the results of the lesson.
The violation of tale disposition of the law is punishable with imprisonment for a term which can extend to two years or with a fine which may extend to one one hundred thousand rupees or with both of them.
The partecipation of officer concerned is also the violation of Para-25 of code of Conduct and directions of the Electoral Commission of Pakistan content in Para-2 (1V) of ECP, Islamabad Notification No.F.16 (1) / 2021-LGE-KP, dated January 3, 2022.
The partecipation of said officer in the election campaign is also the violation of Section-24 of Government Employee Efficiency and Disciplinary Rules, 1964, letter added.
