Winning team received $1 million in prize money
Indianapolis Motor Speedway has already had an autonomous car race under its belt for the past week.
The historic oval track in Indianapolis, USA, hosted the Indy Autonomous Challenge and the winners received a 1 million dollar prize (about 865,000 euros).

A total of 21 universities (of 10 different countries) – some working in teams, others relying only on their own technology – formed a platoon of nine cars for the competition.
The objective was to equip a Dallara AV-21 with autonomous driving technology to achieve the highest average speed of two laps of the track including a section with an obstacle forcing the cars to swerve.
The race was won by TUM Autonomous Motorsport, the car programmed by the Technical University of Munich, with an average speed of 1 35,944 mph (218,780 km/h) in the two laps made.
