An American soldier clings to the embassy flag when he is evacuated from Kabul

A US soldier grabbed the US flag tightly as he boarded one of the planes carrying Americans out of Afghanistan on Sunday, amid the chaotic and deadly evacuations after the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan. News” was the first to obtain and publish this image showing a soldier embracing the flag at Kabul International Airport after it was hastily removed from the US Embassy in Afghanistan.

Kabul International Airport quickly descended into chaos on Monday after Thousands of Afghans rushed to the tarmac to escape, even clung to US military aircraft deployed to transport US Embassy staff and others.

At least seven people died in the chaos, including two who grabbed the wheels of a C-17 transport plane and crashed onto the tarmac moments later in flight.

In scenes reminiscent of the evacuation of Saigon in Vietnam in 1975, some American diplomats were transported by helicopter from the top of the roof of the embassy to Kabul Airport.

This comes At a time when US President Joe Biden refused to take the blame for the chaotic scenes of Afghans clinging to American military aircraft. His administration expected him.

Despite declaring that “the responsibility lies with him,” Biden blamed nearly all of the blame on Afghans themselves for the Taliban’s swift and shocking invasion of their country.
