The office of the mayor of Bolmas in California announced that at least 8 people were missing Saturday in one of the worst wildfires in the United States. It is destroying a historic gold-mining town, according to Reuters.

The mayor’s office said in a statement that they had received reports that 8 people were missing, and appealed to residents to help find them.
Five of the missing also belonged to the gold mining town of Greenville, where much of the heart of the city, 160 miles north of Sacramento, was ravaged by flames.
In turn, an official in the Fire Department stated that a fire Dixie devoured about 447,000 acres of forest, noting that firefighters were able to contain 21% of it by Saturday noon.
