Fans of art and cryptocurrencies in Argentina have the possibility to earn money doing what they like the most. This is because the non-governmental organization (NGO) Bitcoin Argentina organizes an art and NFT contest that will award a prize of 400,000 Argentine pesos in bitcoin (BTC) for each of the two participating categories.
The name of the artistic competition is “Premio B · Arte 2021” and its motto is “Decentralization disrupts art. Bitcoin from the plastic arts and NFT ». Apart from the main prize, two mentions equivalent to ARS 30,000 will be awarded. To establish the price at the time of paying the prize, it will be taken into account the median in pesos of a page specified in the contest rules and conditions counts. The contest will consist of two categories: physical art and digital art. The first will include sculptures, 3D prints, drawings, paintings and collages. Instead, the second will host digital images, videos or short-term animations (maximum one minute).
In both categories, the premise is “to highlight the emergence of new technologies that promote decentralization and economic independence with the plastic arts as a tool,” say the organizers. To this end, “the entire community is invited to represent and express through original works the profound nature of this change in the social, economic and cultural paradigm that we are experiencing and leading.”
What guidelines must be met to participate?
Regarding the contest rules, Bitcoin Argentina specifies that each artist or collective of Artists may participate with only one work , which must be original and must address the issue of decentralization in art, as stated in the slogan of the event.
In addition, they clarify that the work that participates must not be registered in any other contest, cannot contain perishable materials and cannot imply the space intervention. Finally, it is noted that works that may “offend the susceptibility of the public” will not be accepted; although it is not specified what kind of content may fall into this infringement.
The NFTs, protagonists of digital art
The “new technologies” mentioned by Bitcoin Argentina have touched the artistic community closely. The main evidence of this is the appearance of non-fungible tokens (NFT), which allow the commercialization of unique and unrepeatable pieces of art in digital format.
