Two more research groups have started their work in the framework of the Hungarian Center for Excellence in Translational Medicine (HCEMM), initiated by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM) and established in collaboration with several professional partners. nearly 100 scientists can conduct life science research in 16 subject areas. Csaba Bödör received his PhD in 2008 from Semmelweis University. Molecular biologist, specializing in hematology, ie genetic research of tumors of the hematopoietic system. A researcher with significant international experience, earned primarily as a postdoctoral fellowship at the European Society of Hematology in London. After his return, with the support of the Momentum Program of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, he founded the Molecular Oncohematology Research Group at Semmelweis University No. I. At the Institute of Pathology and Experimental Cancer Research, and later this year, he joined the senior translational research group as head of the HCEMM scientific community. The HCEMM-SE Molecular Oncohematology Research Group focuses on the genetic background of various hematopoietic tumors. The research team is working to identify molecular differences that affect or predict patients ’responses to different treatments. The aim of the research is to develop state-of-the-art procedures for both day-to-day diagnosis and patient care that can facilitate the personalized treatment and follow-up of affected patients.
Nikolett Wohner coworker. He specializes in hematology, ie research on blood-related diseases from the bone marrow and various coagulation disorders. During his postdoctoral work, he dealt with the mechanism of the development of bleeding disorders, and his results may allow the development of new therapeutic options. He gained international experience in Paris, from where he returned home and won the support of the junior category of the HCEMM project for 5 years, so he had the opportunity to set up an independent laboratory and set up his own research group. The HCEMM project investigates the molecular-level study of the coagulation system, the background of blood clots and hemorrhagic diseases, a field of research of significant international interest. Diseases associated with blood clots and their complications affect about 10 million people worldwide each year, most of which could be prevented. Both the laboratory and the research are carried out within the walls of Semmelweis University.
