Off farm with license to mine bitcoin in Venezuela

A farm to mine bitcoin licensed by the Superintendency of Crypto Assets and Related Activities (SUNACRIP) was disconnected from the public electricity system this Sunday, July 25, in the state of Carabobo, Venezuela.

A local dedicated to digital mining was visited by officials of the National Electricity Corporation (Corpoelec) who, for no apparent reason, removed the high voltage fuses from the place, rendering it inoperative .

An anonymous source who spoke with CriptoNoticias detailed that the officials showed up at the scene without a search warrant and without the presence of the governing body’s staff of mining activity in the country.

The facility that presumably houses hundreds of cryptocurrency mining equipment, was disconnected for at least 12 hours. That was the time that the authorities would have taken to respond to the complaints made by the representatives of the place.

The source suspects that a hidden strategy has been developed in the region, attacking all the farms in the area and then only attend the requests of those that have the permit. He thinks this is a “show” to show that the law does work.

A request for comments sent to the SUNACRIP was not responded to prior to the publication of this note.

In Carabobo they run into the law

During In the first days of July, this medium reported that those who develop digital mining will not be visited by any authority, if the governing body’s staff is not present. However, until now the reasons for the disconnection of the mining farm are unknown.

As reported by this media, digital mining has been legal in Venezuela since September last year, when A decree entered into force Signed by Joselit Ramírez, superintendent of SUNACRIP.

The document indicates that every person involved in digital mining within the national territory, must keep their documentation of mining activities and records for a period of 10 years .

Since the decree came into force, people interested in mining Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies legally must apply for a license before SUNACRIP. To streamline the procedures, an Integral Registry of Miners (RIM) was created, with attention via the web.

Even so, the free exercise of bitcoin mining in Venezuela is loaded with restrictions. As an example of this, the seizures of mining equipment persist for not complying with the corresponding regulations, as well as the arrests of people dedicated to the activity.
