F1: Verstappen makes the Grand Slam at the Austrian GP

Domination of the Dutch Red Bull driver goes digging distances

Max Verstappen has consummated the domination he has been showing at the Formula 1 World Championship and at Red Bull Ring in particular with a triumph as unquestionable as authoritative at this Sunday’s Austrian GP.

Going by parts, the Dutch Red Bull rider won at the Spielberg track by second consecutive weekend – after having won the Styrian GP last week – and in this ninth race of the World, he did so with the first Grand Slam of his career coming out of pole position, winning leading every lap and making the fastest lap.

The moment is of great importance for Verstappen – in the third race in a row to win –, but also for Red Bull which, despite a troubled race for Sergio Pérez, also increased the distance over Mercedes at the Worlds of Constructors to 44 points – which equals the maximum points n a race (with this configuration) for the combination of the two cars.

In the fight at the Drivers’ World Championship, Verstappen increased his advantage over Lewis Hamilton to 32 points, as the Mercedes driver did not do better this Sunday than fourth place. In second place on the podium was his teammate Valtteri Bottas and third in Austria went to Lando Norris (McLaren).
