EA: No plans for ads in console games

Electronic Arts has no plans to introduce ads in console and PC games. That is what the company tells PC Gamer.
EA is responding to a rumor from the platform Axios. The company is said to have signed a deal with PlayerWON to show ads in its console and PC games. That’s incorrect, EA says.“Concerning incorrect rumors that we’re going to put some sort of ‘TV commercials’ in our games, we wanted we are clarifying that in-game advertising for console games is not currently part of our plans and we have not closed a deal for that. Providing the best possible gaming experience remains our top priority.”PlayerWON, part of Simulmedia, is a new company that provides means to show ‘TV-like’ advertisements in games. During gameplay, players can watch 15 or 30 second videos in exchange for “exclusive” in-game rewards. According to Axios, PlayerWON would also have struck a deal with Tencent’s Hi-Rez Studios in addition to EA.
