[Analysis] Destroy All Humans! for Nintendo Switch

Destroy All Humans! for Nintendo Switch

THQ Nordic brings up Nintendo Switch a game that was won a special little corner in many players a little over 15 years ago. I’m talking about Destroy All Humans! the remake of a game that presents us a alien attack from his point of view , with large doses of action and, above all, a lot of humor . Can we see if it has improved and retained its charm?

The usual Crypto

Well, the charm could be said to be intact, since the game reminds us, with an initial message, that it is the original experience technically improved , that is, that the content is exactly the same with the difference of having certain visual improvements.

So, we put ourselves in the shoes of Crypto, a extraterrestrial of the Furon race that comes to Earth with various motivations. On the one hand, your species needs Furon DNA that is at the base of the human genome to continue cloning, since it is the method of reproduction that these beings have. On the other hand, to avenge the disappearance of his clone that was involved in an accident in Rockwell. All of it at the height of the Cold War, with the tensions that were already lurking in the environment.

In this way, we already have two great reasons to attack the Earth: survival and revenge. The dialogues with our superior and the comments of Crypto himself (translated into Spanish with voices in English) already make us see that we are facing a game with a lot of fun, despite that our main mission is … to destroy.

But we will not be able to roam free and destroy as usual, since we will have the army and the Majestic organization (a kind of MIB but in an idiotic version) that they will try to stop our feet.

A small p aso for Crypto, a big step for Furón

Soon we take control of the good of Crypto and the feelings are good . We handle the protagonist in the third person and we familiarize ourselves, with some initial missions as a tutorial, with the controls of our character.

Thus, we can move on foot, slide quickly, rise with our propeller and use different shots with our weapon, in addition to certain skills such as reading minds or adopting the image of humans to infiltrate, something that we will discover little by little.

These skills and types of shots we will go acquiring and improving in the laboratory , where our superior will give us the opportunity to invest the resources obtained in each mission.

Adopting the human form is something that will be necessary in order to fulfill certain missions in which we should not be discovered . However, the heart of Destroy All Humans! it resides, as its name suggests, in destruction. And that is where we will have a great time electrocuting the military and Majestic members, implanting anal probes or going up to our saucer to strike everything with a mega powerful beam.

Of course, this simplicity dressed in adrenaline is fun, although soon we will be missing a little more variety in the missions , since practically all follow the same pattern. If they are not missions to destroy and eliminate objectives, we will have missions with brief infiltration phases. But, at the end of the day, they are all based on the same thing: get to point A, destroy, delete and we go to the next point.

Signals of the space

Graphically, the game has been improved with a higher definition and some decent looking effects. However, you can see the seams in several points, with textures that are really blurred and some models that time takes its toll . And this can be seen both in laptop and desktop mode.

In the section sound the game maintains a remarkable level, with very well implemented English voices and achieved effects that do not clash at any time , as well as music that remains in the background, without great fanfare.

As far as playable, we are facing a game that could improve certain aspects , such as the precision of the aiming system and a set of cameras that is not always entirely comfortable . This does not mean that it is hard to play, far from it, but a little more fluency in handling is needed.

What I did come across at the end of the game, specifically in the final battle, is a small error that causes that, if we lose our lives, the game suddenly closes notifying said error. We imagine that this will end up being fixed with an update, but the truth is that during this analysis it has happened to me more than once at that point.

Hours of War

Destroy All Humans! it may take us 8-10 hours to complete your main campaign . Within this, we have a series of challenges that will help us gain more resources with which to improve Crypto and our dish.

Beyond this, we have few incentives to dedicate more hours to it. It is not a title that encourages too much to replay it nor does it contain such a vibrant plot as to want to live it again.

Conclution

Destroy All Humans! is a funny title with a simple proposal who knows how to convey his sense of humor at all times. It is a decent remake of the title that was released more than a decade ago, but which still has things to improve, such as certain textures that do not look quite clean or a control that could be more precise . If at the time you liked it and want to remember everything better, the experience is exactly the same, but with a facelift. Destroy All Humans! is now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop at a price of 39.99 € and also in physical format at prices ranging between € 30 and € 40. If you opt for the digital version, remember that you will need a total of 6.2 GB in your memory.
