The exam has already been passed at the University of Óbuda, and the first students will soon graduate from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in a course focusing on building automation and building informatics in cooperation with the institutions and Schneider Electric. Through the program, newly qualified young professionals gain practical, immediately usable knowledge.
Technological developments, the growing demand for better energy efficiency and sustainability, the tightening of related regulations and the amenities offered by buildings. Due to the rising expectations for services, building automation has become much more focused than before. However, for the many technologies and systems in buildings to really deliver the expected results, they need to be properly coordinated, which requires serious effort and knowledge. However, the number of experts in the field has not increased to the extent that the market would have required, and this has resulted in a significant shortage of specialists to date. Schneider Electric is trying to change this situation through collaborations with domestic universities. The company provides extensive support to institutions through the development of new curricula and interactive lab panels that allow students to learn about and gain experience in the latest technologies in building automation, energy distribution and energy management.
The University of Óbuda already has the subject “System Elements of Automation” appeared in the offer last autumn semester and the first students had already taken the exam at the beginning of the year. At the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the renewed MSc subject “Building Informatics” was launched in February this year, from which students choosing the training will soon take an exam. Schneider Electric’s initiative has aroused the interest of other institutions, and the company has already agreed with the University of Debrecen, so a training will be launched there this autumn, using the laboratory wall provided by the company. This interactive training panel offers students the opportunity to gain experience in the coordinated control of mechanical, lighting, shading and energy management systems in buildings.
