The Famous First Websites portal collects the websites of various well-known startups and uses a timeline to show how the pages have changed since they were created. For example, you can see how the website of the former crypto startup Coinbase has developed since it was founded nine years ago until the IPO in April of this year.
Famous First Websites is a project by serial founder Jaisal Rathee. On the platform you can currently find the development history of the websites of nine well-known former startups. These include, in addition to Coinbase, the e-commerce providers Shopify and Gumroad or the trading platform Robinhood. Rathee plans to add a new company every week. If you want, you can also subscribe to a newsletter and will then be informed by email about the new addition of the week.
Famous First Websites should serve as a source of inspiration for founders
“I hope this helps inspire more founders to just get started and build,” says Rathee on Product Hunt, explaining his motivation for building the website gallery. Rathee claims to have built Famous First Websites over a long weekend based on the SaaS solution Webflow.
Famous First Websites is free for visitors. However, there is a paid option on the platform to include your own startup in the list for advertising purposes. According to the website, all submissions will be checked individually again. There should be no guarantee of being shown on Famous First websites. If the company’s own website is accepted, Rathee charges 99 US dollars for it.
