Winklevoss Brothers Launched Their Own Ethereum-Based NFT Collection

Brothers Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, founders of the cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, entered the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with the launch of a series of digital collectibles on the Ethernity Chain platform, based on the Ethereum blockchain. .

The collectibles have been sold since last May 29 , according to Ethernity Chain, on its Twitter account. For the elaboration of the tokens they had the collaboration of digital artists from Visual Labs .

On this occasion the brothers became the main figures of the three NFT series , called «Legendary», «Epic» and «Common», where they appear with laser beam eyes . A trend that members of the bitcoin ecosystem have adopted, after the cryptocurrency surpassed the capitalization of a trillion dollars last February and in a sign of increasing its price.

From the «Legendary« series , 50 NFT collectibles were being sold with a starting price of $ 1,043. At the time of writing 35 are available and two tokens are being resold: one for USD 1,302,880 and the other for USD 130,288.

The second NFT, «Epic«, is valued at USD 270 and 68 tokens are available out of a total of 100 that were put up for sale . Regarding the twins’ third non-fungible token, called «Common«, 74 NFTs out of a total of 200 were sold at the time of this writing, with the price of USD 58 each.

According to a specialized media, the Winklevoss brothers assure that the NFTs “are here to stay”, so being “immortalized in a blockchain is perhaps the most adequate to express our support for this revolutionary movement, “they indicated.

At the beginning of May, CriptoNoticias reported that the market capitalization of NFTs had exceeded USD 23 billion. However, CoinGecko statistics indicate that it has decreased, since to date the capitalization is USD 16.4 billion. This possibly has to do with the recent drop in cryptocurrency prices.

Donations for profits

The platform announced that a portion of the profits obtained from the sales of the twins’ NFT, will be donated to the Row New York charitable foundation , an organization in charge of expanding accessibility of people to the sport of rowing in the entire New York area.

The Winklevoss brothers are big fans of rowing, in fact they were part of the American team at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008. They have even sponsored events related to that sport, such as as reported by CriptoNoticias.
