COVID-19 has accelerated digital transformation plans

“The transformation imperative: Digital drivers in the COVID-19 pandemic” by Microsoft and the Economist Intelligence Unit. In the study, 72 percent of companies reported a significant acceleration in the pace of transformation due to the pandemic. According to the study, most of the organizations at the forefront of transformation say the pandemic has accelerated their “digital journey.” According to Microsoft, this high rate suggests that the digital transformation from something embraced by leading companies has become mandatory in all sectors. “The concept of digital transformation was previously seen as a competitive advantage. It is now needed for business flexibility. This has become increasingly evident as we work during a pandemic,” said Deb Cupp, vice president of Microsoft.

Respondents 50 percent said cloud computing was the most critical tool in their transformation journey. And 57 percent said increasing efficiency and productivity was a “key factor” in their decision to invest more in digital devices.

“This really created an opportunity for customers to think about how they can not only move to a more agile environment in the cloud, but also how they get data to make better decisions, ”said Cupp.

Companies became more socially conscious during the pandemic. In the survey, 76 per cent reported the pandemic placed new responsibilities on companies to play a constructive role in society at large. Three-quarters of them said that digital transformation plans should take into account not only business motivations but also the impact on society

Employees have also become a higher priority. Prior to the pandemic, 24.3 percent of businesses prioritized employee engagement. Last year, that rate jumped to 35.6 percent. As part of this, training and education have also become more urgent.
