Dismissed IPS Officer Sanjiv Bhatt Adjudged to Life in 30-year-old Custodial Death Case
Prabhu Vaishnani, among the detainees, passed away in a healthcare facility on November 18 after he was launched from authorities wardship. Later, Prabhu’s brother Amrut Vaishnani lodged an issue against Bhatt and other police personnel for custodial torture.
A week after the High court refused to entertain sacked IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt’s plea to examine 11 added witnesses in a 30-year-old custodial death instance, a Jamnagar court on Thursday awarded him as well as head constable Pravinsinh Zala life jail time.
According to the situation information, Bhatt, that was posted as additional superintendent of cops in Jamnagar during the public troubles in 1990, had apprehended 133 individuals.
Bhatt was suspended in 2011 on costs of remaining absent from duty without consent as well as misuse of official vehicles and also later on sacked in August 2015.
